The Illawara Tree blooming again

This morning, at the Singapore Botanic Gardens, I had the good fortune of seeing this Illawara tree blooming again. It is said that the tree blooms once every ten years. I have seen this same tree bursting with fiery red clusters of flowers twice in previous years in July 2007 and March 2009.

Unfortunately for me this morning I fell smack on my face right before the tree because I had tripped over a small drain that was in my way. Fortunately, I instinctively broke my fall with my right palm that is now slightly bruised and my glasses thought they bore the full impact of the fall, were miraculously in one piece. My clothes were muddied and bits of grass were plastered onto my face and arms. I must have looked a sight. Fortunately too I had a friend with me and she tidied me up and that helped to see the incident as a passing pain. Since I had to 'kowtow' before the tree before taking pictures of its flowers, I thought I might as well enjoy them while I am still able to do so.
